EQUALITY, DIVERSITY, INCLUSION & SAFEGUARDING
Equality, Diversity
and Inclusion

My Commitment
- I adopt a zero-tolerance approach for discrimination, harassment and shaming;
- I provide a safe and welcoming environment, where every child, young person, family member including professionals are empowered to participate, free of judgement and feel supported;
- I will challenge barriers to inclusion to ensure every child or young person has equal opportunities;
- I take account of religious, cultural and significant personal events when planning assessments, therapy, parent/carer discussions and training;
- My Therapy and goals reflect the child and young person’s wishes to ensure full participation, equality of opportunity.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is central to my practice;
Speech, Language and Communication difficulties can mask vulnerability and may impact a child’s and young person’s ability to understand information, disclose information or communicate concerns about their safety. I am alert to changes in communication and behaviour that may indicate distress, neglect, abuse or exploitation;
I use Communication Resources and Approaches to support safety and expression;
- I will challenge barriers to inclusion to ensure every child or young person has equal opportunities;
I work within relevant safeguarding procedures, professional standards, and information sharing requirements;
There may be circumstances where I have a professional or legal responsibility to share information without consent — for example, where there is a serious concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child or vulnerable person, or where disclosure is required by law. Wherever possible and appropriate, I will discuss this before the information is shared;
Keeping all information secure;
I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, or disclosure.
